Garmin Mobile has made my day. I have owned a GPS (Magellan) for a couple of years now and really have grown to depend on it. Recently however I moved to Idaho and it doesn’t seem to find locations like it use to. I have been told that I need the upgrade software which has a price around 80 bucks. Wow… 80 bucks! I start looking around and I can buy a whole new GPS for slightly more than that.
The search starts. I “goggle” GPS and notice a reference to software that would work with my 8830. I am intrigued if not already hooked. For $99 Garmin promises to make my trusty 8830 into a full fledged GPS. Seemed to good to be true. What the heck… I downloaded the trial and gave it a try. Folks, It’s the real deal. I can do everything that I was doing with my Magellan. It talks to me. I know what time I should arrive. Connecting through my Blackberry 8830′s GPS and EVDO service I am always connected to the latest maps, etc. without an $80 upgrade.
I had to prove this out. Just so happens that one of my salespeople have a dash mounted Garmin! We did a test. Not only was it as accurate but found locations his didn’t! I’m sold. I would like to tell you there were some glitches, bugs, etc. but to be honest… there were none.
Flawless, great price, and oh by the way did I tell you it has a pedestrian and bicycle mode. Pinch me… I’m in GPS heaven.
