Android Calendar Task Organizer: beOrganized

I use Google calendar for personal activity and Microsoft Exchange calendar for work. I really wanted an application that would combine these two calendars but also add my Google tasks. Starting a search through the android market place I found there were all kinds of options available. Unfortunately after testing, in their effort to get all this info on one screen, the text was always too small. I would have to use my reading glasses… and even then it was hard to read. For these 50+ year old eyes anyways.

Finally, however, I did find an app that met all my requirements and some. That app is beOrganized.

beOrganized’s screen view is easy on the eyes, well organized and large. You can simply add a task or event with either a touch click or, what I really like, by using voice recognition. And… their voice recognition is really accurate! Taking this to the next level… they’ve even supplied a great widget that puts an icon on your screen so that you can, through voice recognition, add a task on the fly. Very cool and useful.

Does Product Knowledge Equal Sales Success

For most of my career I have been involved in technical product sales. This is an ever changing market with some serious training challenges. Train a sales staff on a product today to only have that product change drastically next month and your efforts negated.

There is also a credibility issue I have found when a new salesperson gets trained on a product to only find later that it’s not what I had trained on any longer. They now look at my sales manager abilities as less than. Frustrating.

What I prefer to train on are probing, non-interrogating, questions to find pains and repetitions. Then through research and presentations using technical, vendor, and manufacturer resources… uncover and present an up-to-date customized focused solution proposal.

Holistic Approach to Technology Sales

You’ve probably been in the same demonstrations I have where the presenter shows product after product with no apparent goal or target. Sometimes these presentations even get disguised as a “design session”. It’s like they’re telling themselves “If I throw enough information their way they’ll buy something, anything!” In my experience this couldn’t be further from the truth. Unfortunately more times than not the potential customer comes away thinking its way too complicated, too expensive, and even more importantly, it doesn’t solve any of their real, present and future, technical issues. A better approach is needed… a Simple Holistic approach.

1. Simple is Good

One of the latest crusades that I have been on is that the offering needs to be “simple”. As the IT department is either the “strong influencer” or “decision maker” of high tech equipment purchases I am going to focus on this group to make my point.
